Ride Out Saturday 2nd of June 2018
To Devon D-Day, Saunton Sands.
Spitfire flyby in the afternoon!
Friends of the Assault Training Centre will be hosting Devon D-Day 2018 for the 75th Anniversary of the creation of the Assault Training Centre when the American soldiers started arriving for their training for D-Day 1944. Saturday the 2nd of June will be a WW2 vehicle convoy starting at Cobbaton Combat Collection and arriving at Saunton Sands around lunch time.
We will start the ride from McDonalds in Taunton, leaving at 9.30am.
Direct route. M5 to Junction 27, onto the A361. Through Barnstaple, onto Braunton where we take the B3231 towards Saunton / Croyde.
This is approximately 60 miles, 1 hour and 20 minutes and we will stop at Chivenor service station just outside Braunton where we can re-group before riding to the beach.
Free Parking at the beach car park. There is an NPR system in place but I have been informed by the council we can just ride around the exit barrier. How long we stay there can be decided on the day by mutual agreement.
Gill will be taking a ride after to an overnight stay in Ilfracombe. TBC.
I will take the ride back to The Skylark, Wellington. This will just be a retrace of the route taken to get there.
