Chapter Ride Information
The following information is provided to assist those unfamiliar with chapter rides.
Generally the following arrangements will be made, unless we have clashes with the events calendar or there is a bank holiday (busy roads) etc:-
PLEASE CHECK THE WEBSITE CALENDAR BEFORE ATTENDING ANY RIDE OR EVENT, TO CONFIRM START TIME, DEPARTURE POINT AND ANY POSSIBLE CHANGES OR CANCELLATIONS.
The Chapter offers lots of different types of rides and activities held usually on Saturday and Sunday. Also the Chapter runs a once a month Midweek ride to take advantage of quieter roads and to offer a ride to those members who can’t always make weekend rides because of work commitments. For details of all rides and activities please check the website calendar or contact a member of the committee or the Head Road Captain.
New member’s rides are generally at 3 monthly intervals and usually meeting at Riders on a Saturday. As always check the website to confirm meeting point and Start time
Road Captains will give a brief on the ride and any special arrangements prior to the ride. They normally arrange to rehearse the ride with the allocated crew prior to the ride to look for suitable 2nd man drop points and make sure there isn’t any need for unexpected detours. Please ask if you’re unsure of anything, especially if you’re not used to second man drop, and staggered formation riding (or click here for more information).
Road Captains have been asked to post a short summary of the ride on the website a month before the ride so keep an eye out for updates.
The summary should include:-
- a) The meeting time
- b) Expected return time
- c) Distance
- d) Stop off’s and any alternate meeting points along the route
- e) Something about the destination (include costs if any)
- f) Type of roads and style of riding
- g) Anything else interesting about the ride
