Second Man Drop and Riding in Groups

When you are riding directly behind the Lead Road Captain you are now the '2nd Man' and must be ready to do the duty of 'second man drop'.

As the Lead Road Captain approaches a turning in the road, roundabout exit or similar, the Lead Road Captain will clearly direct to STOP at that point to ensure that everybody follows the correct route.

You MUST then pulll up at that location and await the approach of the Back Man who will indicate that you rejoin the ride in front of him.

It's not as complicated as it sounds and before the ride the Road Captain will ask if everybody is happy with the procedure. If everyone follows the procedure it really does work well and large groups can be taken on quite complicated routes without getting lost. Honestly it does (usually).

Bikes take up less road space and are usually less frustration to other road users. However an inconsiderately ridden bike makes everybody angry.

Use your mirrors at all times - be aware of everything and everyone around you.

Remember that is your responsibility to ensure the roadworthiness of your bike and that you are fit for riding. If you have a medical condition or a serious allergy (within reason). Please let somebody know. All these factors affect your safety and those around you!

If you intend to leave the ride early - please let the Lead Road Captain and the Back Man know. Please fill your bike's tank before leaving on the ride and empty your personal tank before the ride starts, not just as the Lead R.C. gives the signal for the off!!!
