Dream Place to Visit:
I worked overseas for 20 years and thoroughly enjoyed my time in Singapore and the relaxed riding in Turkey, Greece or France. My dream trip would have to be to ride the Mother road (Route 66) … but then there is the North Coast 500 calling too………..

What do you love about the Bridgwater Chapter:
Everything - there is something to do in the chapter for everyone no matter what age or gender such as rallies, ride outs, camping weekends, events, charity support, dealership events etc. It is the people that make our chapter and getting involved is always the best way to enjoy such as meeting new people or doing ride outs all with likeminded people. Always to ride and have fun.

Chapter experience

Hello, my name is Peter Parkes (I am also known as Tiffin) and I joined Bridgwater Chapter in February 2006 – 17 years ago and it is my privilege to be in my 13th year serving on the chapter committee.

My first role was as Webmaster where I was quickly in the deep end having to take the committee through the development, design and introduction of a new more modern website due to the old site struggling on old technology and website hosting & support about to be withdrawn.

Once the website was bedded in I took on the dual role of Secretary as this became available unexpectantly and I was a suitable candidate due to my committee experience, management skills, IT skills, knowledge of HOG Charter workings, Chapter By-Laws and knowledge of our valuable committee & principle dealership workings within the HOG framework.  Ultimately, the Webmaster role was subsequently taken on by the very capable hands of Helen James with her extensive IT skills and knowledge.

At the AGM of 2021 I had the privilege of being appointed as one of the Assistant Directors (alongside the Secretarial role).

Our committee exists to serve HOG, our principal dealership, our chapter and to ensure that its members receive the best possible service and experiences. I am proud to be part of our busy committee team serving for the benefit of our just as amazing chapter membership.

I started riding 62 years ago in 1961 when I was 16 on my father’s old 1950 something BSA Bantam which had a habit of back firing on kick starting and running in reverse – it made pulling away interesting.

I passed my test first time and rode a number of bikes over the years at home and overseas. Francis Barnet, BSA, Royal Enfield, Triumph, Jawa, Arial, Honda, Suzuki including Lambretta and Vespa to name a few. In 2005/6 I purchased a 1981 Kawasaki 750 LTD import with a genuine 11,000 miles on the clock. It was a tidy quick bike and brilliant to ride but it was at this time that I became hooked on the Harley Davidson scene, the people and bikes and joined Bridgwater Chapter. I now ride Harley Davidson’s and there is nothing better than being part of our Chapter with fabulous members, friends, bikes and social scene. Nothing else will do ever since.

General

My overall role is to support our Director Moggy, and the committee wherever I can in the smooth running of the Chapter and keep up to date as far as possible with information, advice and guidance as appropriate for the benefit and enjoyment of all members as well as sharing and enjoying the rewards from our exciting social and riding scene.

Please feel free to contact me at any time – I will be happy to help if I can.
